EMMA the cow

ematec stands for engineering and Em(m)a, the cow, stands for our home, the Allgäu. No matter whether they come from Germany or anywhere else in the world, to our customers, the Allgäu always means mountains, lakes, lush green meadows and the typical Allgäu brown cattle. The Allgäu is our home country to which we are closely tied and who could symbolize this closeness better than Emma, the cow.

For those among you who are interested in brown cattle: It is called brown cattle because the cow skin is a medium to dark brown or grey-brown. The race is of a medium frame and medium weight. It is deep-rumped and of strong built, well endowed with muscle.
In addition, this race is very fertile, robust and long-lived. In Germany, brown cattle are kept mainly in the Bavarian and Wurttembergian parts of the Allgäu and in the southwest of Upper Bavaria.

The ancient breed of the brown cattle is currently threatened by extinction. The livestock decreased from 600'000 in 1970 to a mere 500 in 2007.

The artist Gertrud Menzel from Memmingen, Hans-Grässel-Straße 2, gave thought to the topic of ematec and milk production and realized it, we think, in a very interesting manner.
